This work was inspired by the idea of how we carry stories within us—stories that shape who we are, even when they remain untold. I’m fascinated by the way memories, emotions, and everyday moments blend together to create a personal narrative, often without us even realising it. I wanted to capture that sense of quiet reflection, where the line between the internal and external worlds becomes blurred.
The symbolism of the birds, fox, and empty birdcage came from my interest in freedom and the tension between feeling confined versus being able to express yourself fully. The chess pieces symbolise life’s complexities and decisions, while the bookshop represents the importance of knowledge, imagination, and the stories we hold onto.
Much of my inspiration comes from observing the natural world and how it mirrors our inner emotional landscapes—trees moving in the wind, animals roaming freely. These elements often reflect our own journeys, and in this piece, I wanted to weave them into a surreal narrative that invites the viewer to step into a quiet space of introspection, contemplation, and connection.
